yes, the heads can be replaced with corvette heads. there hasn't been any documented proof of horsepower loss or gains, but i would suspect that that might be a minimal increase in horsepower
The 1975 L48 Corvette engine was the "base" engine and never was offered with aluminum heads or a 4-bolt main block from the factory. The L82, offered in 1975 had 4-bolt mains but still only had cast iron heads.
yes
1964-1966 smallblock corvette's to be more precise, the 461 smallblock chevy heads.
valve seals. Can be replaced with engine in truck & heads do not have to be removed.
every head on every car known to man has replaceable heads, but you have to do it step by step with a manual.
1971 chev truck/corvette/lt1
The L82 was an engine option. The L82 had more horsepower and torque than a stock 350 or L48. There were various differences, including many internal parts and the heads.
Engine heads are constructed of iron or aluminum.
NO, Not even close.
THE CAM, THE HEADS, AND THE PISTONS ARE DIFFERENT FOR EACH VEHICLE. EXAMPLE A 5.7 CORVETTE HAS DIFFERENT NEEDS THAN A 5.7 K1500 SILVARADO. TRUCK HAS 190HP AND THE VETTE HAS 350HP THERE ARE OTHER DIFFERENCES BUT THE CAM AND THE HEADS ARE THE MAIN FACTORS. HOPE THIS HELPS..
YES!There won't be any gains from doing it, but it will fit. The only difference is the Corvette has aluminum heads, where as the Caprice has iron heads. Stock for stock the iron heads flow better. Unless the engine is blown or missing there is no reason to do this.Just a side note.....Vette Lt1s had 4 bolt mains and the F/B bodies had 2 bolt mains. Something to consider if you gonna build it
cylinder heads contain the intake and exhaust valve systems and sometimes the cam shaft(s). the valve system parts are normally the parts that wear out first on a high milage engine. these are all vital moving parts that need to be cleaned, reconditioned or replaced, have their respective bearings replaced, and/or be re-machined.
