I wouldn't. It will eventually get to a point where one or more valves won't even be opening. This will result in a loss of power. Also the metal filings from the cam lobe and lifter will get into the oil pump and pump them through the bearings, which will result in catastrophic failure.
It happens quicker than you'd think.
