Yes you can, just make sure that you tape the button down...and don't forget or forget to tell others about it...because it can be dangerous...as a PEP Boys tech. found out a couple weeks ago, working on my 91 Tercel

Though I don't drive this type of car, I do know that most neutral safety switches are found on the transmission.
It is located on the passenger side of the transmission.
