Personally I would stick with the factory size 245 / 75 / 16 I would be concerned with the 265 being just over an inch taller , and it throwing out the accuracy of the speedometer and also the VSS sends a signal to the PCM which is used to control the operation of many functions on the Ranger , but that's just my opinion
Sorry , No ( the biggest tire from the factory on a 1999 Ranger came with the OFF ROAD PACKAGE on the 4X4 XLT and it was 245/75/R16 which is slightly below 31 inches tall ) Dont listen to him. i have a 99 ranger and i put 33 inch tires on it stock and the fit just fine.
1 tires, 2 your alignment. But if your tires are a different size you will be all over the road.

On my 2005 Ford Explorer I have Goodyear Assurance Triple-Tred tires. They are very expensive at $820 with installation, road hazzard warrenty and lifetime rotate and ballence. I am pretty sure it depends on the package you have on the truck...mine is the 4x4 off road and the stock tires are 31x10.50x15....you can find the stock size by googling it.I just put the size I mentioned above on my ranger about a month or two ago
