The 3100 Engine (code M in VIN.#) motor has a 4T60E Transmission. The 3800 Engine (code K in VIN.#) motor has a 4T65E Transmission. Hope This Helps you, Brett
grand Prix and Monte Carlo have the 3.8.
It would not be very difficult since the vehicles are built almost exactly the same, but I would not suggest it as the 3.4L engine is not a very dependable engine and has many mechanical malfunctions. If you want a more powerful engine than the 3.1L, I would recommend going with a 3.8L 3800 Series II, which is cast from the same block as the Chevy 350's just with the last two cylinders removed. All internals are interchangeable with Chevy 350's, Which makes it quite easy to find replacement parts.
no, you can only swap a 96-98 Monte Carlo 3100 transmission, i am having the same problem with my 95, you can only swap a 95 with a 95....96 through 98 are interchangeable. pontiacs have a different bolt pattern on them anyway.

DEPENDS ON WHAT ENGINE YOU HAVE. IF IT IS A 3100 (CODE M)V-6 ENGINE IT IS AS FOLLOWS, 1-2-3-4-5-6. IF IT IS A 3800 (CODE K)V-6 ENGINE IT IS AS FOLLOWS, 1-6-5-4-3-2.
Depends on the engine. On the 3.1 and 3.4 it is located on the front of the engine, up top, but below the power steering reservoir. The connector for the sensor is located behind the alternator. On the 3800 it is located in the front cover above the crank balancer pulley.
With filter change it is 5 quarts.
this is a GT with floor shift and 3800 engine
Yes. My parents recently bought me a 2001 Monte Carlo for my 16th birthday. The car is fairly large, making it reasonably safe. The 3800 Series II engine is said by some to be one of the best and most reliable engines ever made by GM. And to top it all off, it looks pretty good, so I think he'll like driving it.
