Yes, it will. Obviously there will be differences in terms of fueling and electronics, but the 4.3 block will physically fit in place of any G-body motor, v6 or v8 (with the exception of the 3.8 Buicks). The 4.3 is essentially a small-block 350 ci motor with the front 2 cylinders cut off. If the Monte in question currently has a 4.3 as well, it will be a direct swap, you will just need to use the engine mounts off the Monte, and not the donor S-10.
will 2002 monte carlo rims fit 2000 s10
i need a wiring diagram for my '86 Chevy s10 but it has a 305 Monte Carlo engine now.
both vin numbers the 8th letter is Z
The swap will work . You may have to change exhaust pipe, swap the ECM with the one from the 91 engine. You are going to have to look and check the wiring harness in the 96 , You may have to swap the too. Probably be easier just to find a used 2.2L.
There are a number of specialty car websites that can provide one with more information on how to perform this engine swap on a Chevrolet S10. Some of these websites are the S10 Forum, Car Craft, and Stylin Trucks. Additionally, there are instructional videos posted to YouTube about this swap.
It will fit in but you will have to swap all the electronics, wiring harness's, fuel pump and fuel lines, etc with it.
yes the gears from an s10 will fit in a Monte Carlo. most Chevy gears are interchangable
no way i tryed that swap and didnt work ecu computer changed
Some wiring harnesses and other electrical might be a bit different but the 4.3L V6 dimensionally will fit. That engine was uses the S10s for a number of years up until the last model it was discontinued in 2005.
vacuum leak. my 95 Monte Carlo did it. once in a while it would race to 2500 rpm then settle down like normal. not easy to find , but a cheap fix.
I replaced my 1995 S10 2.2 engine with a 2.2 cavalier engine and it worked fine.
It won't be a simple "plug and play" swap. You'll have to get your ECM reflashed, as the ECM from that 97 is programmed to work with an electronically controlled transmission, whereas the 1988 transmission is mechanical.
