Most modern automatic transmissions do not have a "drain plug". You're supposed to pull the pan, remove and replace the filter, then replace the pan and gasket.
BTW, watch out, there may not be a dipstick/fill tube on your vehicle. Many of the newer transmissions use a side plug that you remove to fill the fluid and check the fluid level...
But make sure you know which plug to pull; if you get the wrong one, who knows what might happen.
The transmission drain plug on a 2005 Saturn Ion is located on the bottom of the transmission case. It is typically a 10mm or 12mm bolt that can be accessed from underneath the vehicle. To drain the transmission fluid, you'll need to remove this plug, allowing the fluid to flow out into a suitable container. Always ensure the vehicle is securely raised and supported before attempting this maintenance task.
