I'm having the same problem on my 1999. Going to remove the inside panel and see what i can find.
I removed the inside panel on my 1994 and was able to move the bar running up and down. I was also able to move the lock bar and with the help of WD/40 able to open the rear hatch. The spring that resets the handle is not working or is worn-out.
my hatch handle is broke
To replace the rear brake light on a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker, first, open the rear hatch and locate the brake light assembly. Remove the screws or clips securing the assembly and gently pull it out. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it, replace the old bulb with a new one, and then reassemble by reversing the steps. Make sure to test the new bulb before securing everything back in place.
To open the rear hatch on a Chevrolet HHR, locate the liftgate handle near the bottom of the hatch. Press the handle or use the key fob to unlock and open the hatch. If the vehicle is equipped with a power liftgate, you can also press the liftgate button on the dashboard or key fob to activate it. Ensure the vehicle is in park for safety before opening.
how do i get the hatch open on a 2002 aztec manualy
To manually open the rear hatch of a 2002 beetle can be hard depending on weather the hatch is closed or open. If needing to manually open a hatch you will have to take the plastic cover from the inside of the hatch then push the latch open.
You back into a pole. Then the hatch pops open
I just had the same problem on my 98 tracker. Take the rear door panel off of the inside of the door. The linkage was unhooked on mine. I just popped it back on and it works great.
You can not open the rear hatch door from the inside.
At first, water was pressing on the hatch from one side. When water was pressing equally on both sides, it was easy to open the hatch. Remember this if your car falls into the harbour.
Break it open, then fix it...silly.... :P
The rear hatch on a 1998 dodge durango won't open
I have to pull a fuse to get mine to work and then replace it. It only works once, so every time I want in the hatch, I have to open the hood, open the fuse box, remove and then replace the fuse. I can then open the hatch once.
