There is no governor, there is a REV limiter that will cut back on fuel pressure whne a certain RPM is attained. It is preset in the Engine Control Module.
Yes, the 2004 Chevy Impala SS does have a governor chip that limits its top speed. This chip is factory installed and limits the speed to just over 100 mph.
You can bypass chip to set it always on and replace ignition w/o chip. This will save you a lot of headaches.
You could look for Hypertech products, which are distributed by Autozone, Advance, and O'Reilly's.
The fault key start is a problem with Chevy caprice's and it starts with the key itself which has a RFID chip and that runs about $35.00 and if that does not work then you have a problem with the transceiver in the steering column and that has to be fix by a professional and it is costly
you can not turn off the governor you can have a new computer chip installed in the ecm and the truck will go alittle faster
Yes, you can install a chip in a 1996 Chevy Caprice with a 4.3L engine, but it's important to ensure compatibility. Chips can improve performance by optimizing fuel maps and ignition timing. However, modifications may affect emissions compliance and vehicle reliability, so it's advisable to consult with a professional or do thorough research before proceeding.
The Chevy caprice classic does not have anti theft technology. I have made many 1 dollar duplicates of my key and they all work fine I own a Repair Shop and what you say is true to a certain extent. In the past 2 weeks we have had 3 cars towed in for a no start. They were using the valet key. After awhile the pass code will not recognize it and will fail to start. If your key has a chip(resistor) in it then it is for antitheft.
