if the spark plugs are black because your car is running too rich. your plugs are fouled.
It will be smoking black out of the exhaust / Running RICH. Spark plugs will be fouled out/ Black. Replace them if it is running rich. Plugs will not fix your problem. Replace map sensor.
To be 100% sure. Auto Zone will check your codes for FREE. It maybe spark plugs, wires or even a bad coil pack.

Too rich and you will get black smoke from exhaust. You can also read the spark plugs. way too rich and the engine will bog down or flood out in extreme situations. If it's running too lean, the rpms will get erratic.
They fail because of an engine problem. Engine misfire, engine running too rich, converter contaminated with coolant due to blown head gasket, engine burning oil, & bad spark plugs or wires are the most common causes.

Of course, it may make it run bad. However, I would be looking at plugs and wire and coil packs too. I had a 1998 Ford Expedition XLT (4.6L) It has the running ruff. I ran my computer codes. Bad O2 sensor. Running rich. It ended been two bad spark plugs. Therefore, I decide to do a full tune up. Wires & plugs. Everything was running like new after I was done. It took me four hrs to tune it up.
