The term "265" typically refers to a specific engine displacement, often associated with a 265 cubic inch V8 engine, commonly found in classic cars like those from Chevrolet. Horsepower can vary based on the engine's design and tuning, but a typical 265 V8 engine produces around 150 to 180 horsepower. However, performance modifications and specific configurations can lead to higher outputs. Always check the specific model and year for precise horsepower ratings.
The 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan typically came with a 235 cubic inch (3.9 L) inline-six engine, producing around 123 horsepower. Additionally, buyers had the option of a 265 cubic inch (4.3 L) V8 engine, which generated approximately 162 horsepower. These engines were known for their smooth performance and reliability during that era.
