A 1995 safari van transmission does fit into a 1997 astro van
To change the spark plugs in a 1997 astro van do I have to change the spark plugs from the bottom of the engine/
NO it will not.
The Astro does not have a flywheel, it has a flexplate. To remove it you have to remove the transmission so you can unbolt it from the crankshaft.

There are more than 14 vacuum lines on the 1997 GMC. Most of the vacuum lines originate from the air intake system or the transmission.
