The Owners Manual cites green (conventional) and yellow (long-life) for Taurus / Sables
On a 1998 Ford Taurus, the transmission dipstick is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment. It is typically found near the back of the engine, close to the firewall, and is marked with a yellow or red handle. To check the transmission fluid, ensure the engine is running and the vehicle is in park or neutral.

Looks like a small black plastic box with a red button and wires connected to it. Most likely on the upper drivers side area of the trunk, sometimes behind a panel.
If you mean the red " BRAKE " light in your dash is on , that means that the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder located in your engine compartment ( on a Ford Taurus ) is LOW ( or that the parking brake is on )
its on the passagers side of the trunk. There is usually a red and white tag that alludes to it.
