Does a pressed OD button on a Ford Contour mean overdrive is on I know this is dumb but my OD Off light went out long ago and I am in an argument with a friend about it?

When the overdrive button is pushed, the overdrive is shut OFF.

But if you push the button again the overdrive is allowed , so it would be ON

So , if you are on the highway or freeway where the speed is higher just

look at the RPM on your tachometer to tell if you are in overdrive because

the RPM will be lower
