The various functions are controlled by engine vacuum, defrost being the default without vacuum. Look far a damaged or loose vacuum line starting from the function switch, through the reservoir,to the engine vacuum port.
You have a vacuum line disconnected probably under the hood. The HVAC controls are operated by vacuum and when there is no vacuum it system goes into defrost mode.
If your 2008 Jeep Liberty's heater won't change from defrost to panel, it could be due to a malfunctioning mode door actuator, which controls the airflow direction. A vacuum leak in the HVAC system or a problem with the climate control switch can also cause this issue. Check for any blown fuses or electrical issues as well. Consider consulting a mechanic if the problem persists after basic troubleshooting.
Check that the linkage that controls the damper is connected and working. The linkage is just above the gas pedal.
Heat and A/C controls in most cars today run off vacuum. Remove controls and check for leaks in hoses in back. If you can't find anything you may need to see an A/C specialist. He'll charge a small fee to find the problem.
Don't know what vehicle you have but most HVAC controls operate from a vacuum supply from the engine. I would start with checking the vacuum supply connections under the hood. They could be cracked or disconnected.
most likely your heater controls run via vacuum lines. cracked or broken lines could cause this.
If this is an older vehicle the cable that controls the vent/def gate is broken or off. If this same gate is controled by a vacume servo or dashpot then the problem is either a leak in the vacume lines going to these accuators or faulty controllers themselves. Vacume leaks are sinister in that a bad leak far from your problem area can still cause a lot of problems simply by not allowing any vacume to build in the system
If you mean the controls are flipped then press start then change the invert look option
If you can Not change the location of the air flow to the different outlets (defrost, dash, floor, etc) That sounds like a mode door problem or a mode door control knob.
common problem in these Wranglers, can change out the switch or the entire heat/ac control panel (all 3 controls) for about $60.00, get part on eBay and you must use same year part, just because 97 & 05 look the same the wires are shorter on the 97 and won't fit the 05 without a ton of work. Good Luck, about 5 hours to do the job!
you have a fuse out...
THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE BLOWER SWITCH.IT IS MORE THAN LIKLEY THE CABLE ON THE AIR BOX HAS CAME OFF.
