We are going to need to know what engine you have in that 92 S10.
30 degrees dwell
a 1973 Chevy truck has HEI Answer And if it does have points, say not the original engine, its .018-.019 will do.
Any steel part of the engine, body, or frame.
No model, no year, no engine size, sorry I can provide no answer with just Chevy to go on.
A 1976 Chevy did not have a points ignition, but that has nothing to do with the correct timing. You will find that the engine runs best with about 8-12 degrees BTDC.
buy a timing light. clip it to the #1 plug wire. loosen the bolt on the distibutor. Unplug the timing advance. start the engine Point it to the harmonic balancer and turn the distributer until the timing mark on the timing cover lines up with the mark on the harmonic balancer. Tighten the distibutor bolt. plug in the timing advance.
check ur distibutor cap and rotor bug pull a spark plug see if its getting fire then make sure ur getting fuel to the carb
1988 L6: 600rpm- 4*btc with points; 8*btc HEI
Set the points for 30 degrees dwell. 1988 305 has electronic ignition.NO POINTS.last year for points was 1974
After finding top dead center by turning engine over till compression on #1 cylinder and setting distibutor with rotor at #1 cylinder . engine was ready to be turned over . engine started now at this point is it necessary to remove a wire for crank sensor or ignition system to set the timing w a light.
Use a dwell meter to adjust the points to 30 degrees dwell.
