To reset the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) on a Chevy Silverado, you can disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it off for about 15 minutes. This will clear any stored codes and reset the PCM. After the time has elapsed, reconnect the battery cable, ensuring a good connection, and start the vehicle to allow the PCM to recalibrate. Optionally, you can also use an OBD-II scanner to clear any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
A Chevy of that year uses OBD2 compliant code scanners. Most of the better devices have the ability to clear the light, but usually, if you repair the problem, the code will clear itself after driving the vehicle a few times.

If the blower motor in your Chevy Silverado is noisy and no air is coming through the vents, it could indicate a few issues. First, check for any obstructions in the air intake or the cabin filter, as these can block airflow. If those are clear, the blower motor itself may be failing and could need replacement. Additionally, inspect the wiring and fuses related to the blower motor for any damage or malfunctions.
Remove your lower passenger side engine mount and you will be able to rock the engine back far enough for the fan to clear the manifold.

To reset the check engine light on a 1997 Chevy Silverado, you can either disconnect the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes or use an OBD-II scanner to clear the codes. After reconnecting the battery, the light should turn off if the underlying issue has been resolved. If the light remains on, it indicates that there may still be a problem that needs addressing. Always check for any diagnostic trouble codes before resetting to ensure any issues are properly diagnosed.
