On a 1987 Chrysler New Yorker, the speed sensor is typically located on the transmission. It is often mounted on or near the output shaft of the transmission, where it can read the vehicle's speed based on the rotation of the gears. For precise identification, consulting the vehicle's service manual is recommended, as the location can vary slightly depending on the specific transmission model.
This is called limp mode for that 604 transmission, it means something is wrong internally with the transmission and it needs to go to the repair shop for further diagnosis.
It's the main drive gear mechanisms in the transmission.
There is no maximum. The manufacture could theoretically put as many gears as they want. Mercedes Benz has a 7 speed transmission & Chrysler has an 8 speed transmission. Long haul semi-trucks have 26 gears ratios or more.
The solenoid pack is activated by the transmission computer to control fluid flow in the transmission. That is how the correct gears are selected.
Remove the pan and check for metal debris, probably failed internally.
Transmission gears? In the transmission.
It depends on the rear end gear ratio, but the top speed should be between 115 with 3.55 gears or 125mph with 3.23gears.
Gears is what transmission is for. No gears. No transmission!
If your 1999 Chrysler Concord isn't changing gears, it could be due to several issues, such as low transmission fluid, a faulty transmission solenoid, or a problem with the transmission control module. Worn-out or damaged internal components may also be the culprit. It's advisable to check the fluid level and condition first, and if those are fine, consult a professional mechanic for a thorough diagnosis.
