This happened on my 2001 Montana also. There is a metal tab that is part of the mounting base that engages a cog on the rotating assembly to reverse the motion and allow the wipers to park in the down position. Alternate park position is vertical. See if the tab is bent so that it does not engage the cog. Also clean an lubricate (wd40). Worked for me.
Just a guess - a pump for the wiper fluid?
The rear wiper on a 1998 Pontiac Montana may not stop due to a faulty wiper relay, a malfunctioning wiper motor, or a short circuit in the wiring. Additionally, a stuck wiper switch can also keep the wiper activated. Inspecting the wiring and testing the relay and motor can help identify the issue. If needed, replacing the faulty component should resolve the problem.
where is the location wiper motor Pontiac grand prix 2002
My mechanic replaced a pin in my 2002 Pontiac Montana wiper motor and that solved the problem. It was a very easy fix. The pin is visible if you look at the top of the wiper motor.

Need to know what model Pontiac, it makes a difference.
It is definitely a pin inside the wiper motor that is worn out. I just had mine replaced in my 02 Montana. The pin can be seen by removing the cover from the motor.
The windshield wiper motor is located just below the windshield wiper blades and is covered by a black panel.
If one wiper on your 2002 Pontiac Montana works while the other does not, it could be due to a few common issues. The most likely causes are a burned-out wiper motor for the non-functioning side, a broken or disconnected linkage, or a problem with the wiper arm itself, such as a loose connection. Additionally, a blown fuse or a malfunctioning switch could also be contributing to the issue. Inspecting these components should help identify the specific problem.
It's the same resevoir. The hose may be clogged or sediment in the bottom of the resevoir. See if the front still work and hope for the best. The motor for the back might not be working. GOOD LUCK
