To replace the oil pump on a 1992 Geo Metro, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the engine oil. Remove the oil pan by unbolting it and ensuring the gasket is clean. Then, remove the oil pump assembly from the engine block, which may require removing the timing belt or chain for access. Install the new oil pump, reassemble the components in reverse order, and refill the engine with oil before starting the vehicle.
A water pump does not need "oil" or oiling. If it is making noise then it needs replacement because the bearings are probably failing. If you are replacing coolant, but don't see where it is going, then could be that it is leaking slightly at the wheep hole just below the pulley.
Oil check valves are designed to stop the drain-back of oil. A replacement valve costs between $25 and $30 depending on where you buy it.
The Geo Metro hatchback may take up to 4 or 4.5 quarts of oil.
