You will need to get a pair of spring compressors. I rented mine from autozone for $30.00. They will refund your money if you bring them back undamaged. Also new springs and new top plates that hold the top of the spring in place. I also replaced my struts, since the whole thing comes out as one unit. 4 bolts to remove, 2 at the bottom wheel area, and 2 hiding in the rear trunk panel. I replaced the rear struts and springs, not the front. Get the whole unit into a good vice, compress the spring, remove the top nut, and uncompress and remove. If you buy all new you can just toss the old unit. My cost if I remember correctly was about $230 dollars altogether for both rear units. 2 springs - $60.00, 2 top plates - $50.00, and 2 struts - $120.00.
replacing coil springs, 2002 ford explorer
A 2002 Jeep Wrangler has coil springs.
Yes
I don't think so.
To convert a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada from air springs to coil springs, you'll need to remove the air spring system, including the compressor and air lines. Replace the air springs with coil spring assemblies designed for the vehicle, ensuring they fit the existing suspension components. It's also advisable to install new shock absorbers suited for coil springs to maintain ride quality. Lastly, check alignment and adjust as necessary after the installation.
take the old ones out and put new ones in
If you are trying to drop the front end 4 inches I would recommend replacing the stock front spindles with 3 inch drop spindles and replacing the front coil springs with 1 inch drop springs. If you cut the front springs to drop the front end 4 inches, proper alignment will be impossible.
rear leaf front coil springs
NoNo
How do I install rear coil springs on a 1996 Camaro?
I may be wrong but, the Wrangler has leaf springs on all 4 corners, no coils.
To change the front coil springs on a 1969 Chevy Nova, first, safely lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheels and then disconnect the shocks and any components that may obstruct the spring removal, like the sway bar links. Use a spring compressor to safely compress the coil springs, then remove the lower control arm bolts to release the springs. After replacing the old springs with new ones, reverse the process to reassemble everything.
