what do you mean by change there is only one position for the timing mark and that t.d.c. top dead center
The timing mark is one the Harmonic balancer and the pointer is attached to the timing cover. Roll the motor over to the timing mark, the be sure and mark the number one plug {marked on the intake manifold} the position of the rotor pointer on the distributer.
Engine 4.3L (262 cid)Base Timing 0~ TDC (Manual Trans).Engine 4.3L (262 cid)Base Timing 0~ TDC (Auto Trans).
There is a mark on the timing chain cover behind the harmonic balancer(behind the crank pulley). The harmonic balancer also has a slot cut in it so that you can line the crank up with the mark on the timing cover. The mark on the timing cover should sit at the 2 o'clock position or the 12 o'clock position. My 96 Chevy 305 is at the 2 o'clock position.
look at how to set timing mark for 99 daewoo, explained it there
you need a large socket and a breaker bar to manually turn the cam until the timing mark is placed right
how to time a 4m51 canter engine
perhaps crank pulley has slipped from original position
you just do what mark on the crank is TDC
The belt itself doesn't matter but the position of the pulleys do. Mark the 12o'clock position of the pullleys with whiteout or something when you remove the old belt.
The crank gear should be in the 12: oclock position & the cam gear should be in the 6: oclock position facing each other this is top dead center on compression stroke.
To set the engine timing on a 4HF1 engine, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, align the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley with the timing mark on the engine block. Next, check the position of the fuel injection pump; it should align with its timing mark. Finally, adjust the pump if necessary, ensuring it is securely fastened before rechecking the timing.
2.4l dohc balance shaft timing mark, crankshaft sprocket timing mark, oil pump timing mark and camshaft TWO timing marks 2.4l sohc balance shft timing mark, crankshaft timing mark, oil pump timing mark and ONE camshaft timing mark. it is complicated only that everymark must be bang on, if not the pistons will hit the valves and YOU get to rebuild engine.
