how do I get to the front bearing on a geo 4 wheel drive
you don't, you have to replace the whole drive shaft.
It could need new rotars or a wheel bearing It could need new rotars or a wheel bearing
From my understanding there is no way to change the center support bearing I was told you have to change the axle to change it and then they said, theres no way to change it so I have to break down and buy a whole new driveshaft
2002 Monte carlos are not rear wheel drive
That is a bearing in the centre of a crankshaft or drive shaft.
That's never going to happen as the 98 Monte is front drive.
In a double suction pump the bearing nearer to the pump coupling (i.e) nearer to the driven end is the in board bearing and the bearing on the other side of the pump is the outboard bearing.
If you take the left front wheel off and the outer casing of the four wheel drive hub and see missing bearings, then it is the wheel bearing. If the bad bearing is in the part that you removed, the hub locker, then it will require replacement. I am wrestling with a bad wheel bearing & hub now myself, on a 93 Tracker 4wd. I need a place to buy parts. I can't find the hub anywhere. I found my new replacement wheel hub @ Autozone. $96.00 + tax.
Sounds like to me you need a wheel bearing
2 or 4 wheel drive makes a big difference. Need more info.
(1995) ( Geo) ( tracker ),the wheel light comes on with the hubs locked in and the shifter in , but the 4 wheel drive does not appear to be locking in.
I was mystified by this high pitched squeel - so were many dealers... "The sound was traced to the drive support bearing area - I had a can of Marvel mystery spray oil - I drowned the bearing area with this stuff - sound vanished. That was several thousand miles ago - so I get it a squirt at every oil change.
