To disconnect the speedometer on a 2006 Transit van, first, ensure the vehicle is turned off and the keys are removed. Locate the vehicle's instrument cluster, which typically involves removing screws or clips to access it. Once exposed, carefully unplug the speedometer connector from the back of the cluster. Ensure to handle all components gently to avoid damage.
i would tell you but its agenst the law so then how do you re-connect the speedo
You unplug it from the transmission and from the back of the speedometer, if it's a model old enough that the speedometer cable doesn't to the ECM.
To remove the speedo head from a 1989 Mazda 323, first disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Then, remove the dashboard panel to access the instrument cluster. Unscrew the screws holding the speedo head in place, disconnect the speedometer cable, and carefully pull the speedo head out of the cluster. Reassemble the dashboard once the speedo head is replaced or serviced.
Disconnect the Battery.
HI Renew the speedo cable
Check engine is on BECAUSE the speedo is inop, assuming it was not on prior to speedo malfunction. Speedo is electronic. Could be numerous reasons ( no fuses are involved). Could be something simple like an electrical disconnect at transmission. Good luck
you can buy a tool made for lubricating cables, at a motorcycle shop then u need to disconnect the cable from back of speedo, use the tool and lubricant then reintall cable to speedo usually tho if a speedo cable gets noisy it is worn out and about to break
To change the speedo cable on a 1998 Astra van, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Remove the instrument cluster by unscrewing it and gently pulling it out to access the speedometer connection. Next, locate the speedo cable at the transmission, disconnect it, and then remove it from the dashboard. Install the new cable by reversing the process, ensuring all connections are secure before reassembling the cluster and reconnecting the battery.
To replace the speedo cable on a 1991 Honda CRX, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Then, remove the instrument cluster by unscrewing the necessary screws and gently pulling it out. Disconnect the old speedo cable from the back of the cluster and from the transmission, then install the new cable by reversing the removal process, ensuring it's securely connected at both ends. Finally, reassemble the instrument cluster and reconnect the battery.
undo the clip on back of guage, then feed thru firewall down to trans.
More info would help here. There is a cable that runs from the back of the speedo, to the trans. There is a cable running through the outer case of the cable. The core spins, which activates the speedo head. Disconnect the cable at the trans, and spin the core with your fingers, while someone whatches the speedo. It should jump, when you spin it. No jump, bad cable, or speedo. If it jumps, then the plastic gear it connects to inside the trans, is bad. Chevy dealer has them. They are color coded according to rear gear ratios. If the speedo is bad, a speedo shop, or, a reproduction company like Classic ind., or Year 1, will help you.
Yes, or it's the plastic speedo gear that enters the transmission. An easy way to narrow it down between the speedo cable or the transmission gear is to disconnect the speedo cable from the transaxle (garden hose style), and attach the metal "key" end to your drill. Then spin the drill. If the speedometer reads like you were driving, then your cable is ok and it's your the gear in the transaxle. If the speedometer doesn't read anything, then your cable is broken and it's time for a new one.
