Find the transmission dipstick near the firewall on most rear wheel drive cars. Yank that bad boy out and wipe it off. The car must be LEVEL, RUNNING, and up to operating TEMP. Wipe the stick off, push it all the way in and pull it out and look at the level indicator. Most people usually smell it as well and although I admit to smelling it myself, it doesn't tell you much and you usually wind up with the fluid on your nose. If the tranny is going bad, you will know it because the fluid turns black in which case the damage is already done. If you just need to add fluid, stick a small funnel in the hole where the dipstick goes and pur it in. Use Dextron III. Hope this helps you out. vbdenny YouTube
