To adjust the shift cable on a 1997 Chevy K1500, first, ensure the vehicle is in park and the ignition is off. Locate the shift cable adjustment bracket on the transmission, then loosen the mounting bolt but do not remove it. Shift the transmission into the neutral position, pull the cable tight, and then retighten the bolt to secure the cable in place. Finally, test the shifter to ensure it engages all gears correctly.
Shift point setting may not properly set at the right pressure.This is controlled by the TV or shift cable. If you look where the air butterfly plate is under the hood, or air control, the 2nd cable attached next to the throttle cable on the side is the TV cable. There is a metal tab that can be pushed in to release the cable housing to adjust the transmission shift points. It only takes a couple of clicks at a time to make a difference in your shift pattern, so go a little at a time.
The 1997 Chrysler Sebring parking brake cable has adjustment nuts on each end of the cable. Adjusting the nuts will lengthen or shorten the parking brake cable.

You can't adjust the TPS, but there is a way to adjust the idle if thats what you want. Right next to the brake master is the throttle cable and with your fingers spin the black plastic nut on the cable to desired rpm.
There is a small O-RING that fits over the shaft that the safety switch slides over. It is called a shift shaft seal.

i cannot shift from 3 to reverse my cable line for the shifting is disconnected and don't know where it suppose to go
disconnect negative battery cable, remove the two bolts that hold the starter, hold starter up and disconnect wires remove starter and install new starter reconnect negative battery cable
