We also own a 2002 Xterra, in which we were told on numerous ocsassions the headlights could not be adjusted. We are continuously getting "bright lighted" by oncoming traffic, and even been in aggressive situations from other drivers going the same direction due to them thinking we were being rude by not dimming our lights. The Nissan dealership suggested putting black tape at the top of the lights which we thought was ridiculous. >>Matgyver has found the up and down adjustments for the 2002 Xterra XE model. Look under hood on top of the back of headlight housing outside corners there should be a square hole apox. 1/2 inch in size. If you look down into it you'll notice some teeth towards the front of the vehicle. Those are for a phillip screwdriver.
