If and only if you have the three cylinder engine. The camshaft pulley has two small notches on the outer perimeter of the pully. One of those marks has a "dimple" just below the rim of the pulley. That mark with the dimple adjacent to it must be aligned with the notch at the top of the upper rim of the valve cover. The crank gear has a "nub" a kind of round projection at the front of the gear( This nub indexes the crank belt pulley such that it cannot be installed incorrectly IE: it can only go on one way.). That projection must be aligned with a vertical pointer cast into the engine block just above the crank pulley. The pointer points straight up the centerline of the engine. If you have the valve cover off you will not have the valve cover reference. No matter the two camshaft lobes on the #1 cylinder will be pointing fore and aft when the camshaft is in the correct orientation with the crankshaft ( both valves closed). That would indicate that the #1 piston was at TDC compression stroke which you could verify by looking in the #1 cylinder plug hole and see that the piston is all the way up in the bore.

How do you set timing marks on 1996 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2?

To set the timing marks on a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2L, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for the number one cylinder. Then, align the crankshaft timing mark with the timing pointer on the lower timing cover. The camshaft timing marks should also be aligned; the marks on the camshaft pulleys should face each other or align with the reference points on the engine. Finally, double-check all alignments before reassembling any components.
