You don't, keep the stock one and return the one you bought. It's dumb to change a gear shift knob, it's like changing the buttons on your tv remote.Pointless The shift knob on the manual transmission "just" pulls off. With that said it takes a lot of force (as in, when it finally lets go don't hit yourself in the face). The good news is putting it back on takes much less effort. I don't know about the auto.
