Remove the side fuse panels then un do the bolts from each side, 1 each, then pull out ashtray theres' two bolts in the back of that, two bolts in the top of the instrument panel, one bolt underneath the dimmer switch, one underneath the gear shift. Will need key in to pull shifter down to get it above the shifter, then on the side of dimmer switch you can disconnect, and relpace.

To replace the dimmer switch on a 2000 Chevy Metro LSI, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the dashboard cover or panel to access the switch, typically held in place by screws or clips. Disconnect the wiring harness from the old dimmer switch, then remove it from the dashboard. Install the new dimmer switch by reversing the process, reconnecting the wiring, and securing everything back in place.
yes you can with additional modification.
To remove the dimmer switch on a 2000 Buick LeSabre, first, disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Then, remove the dashboard trim panel by carefully prying it off, starting at one end. Once the panel is removed, locate the dimmer switch, disconnect the wiring harness, and unscrew the switch from its mounting. Finally, pull the switch out and replace it if needed.
The only way to fix the dimmer switch is to replace it I have tried cleaning it lubercating it. nothing will fix it for good .so i had to replace it. It is a factory item.
