To change the ABS module on a Chevy Avalanche, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove any necessary components to access the ABS module, which is typically located near the brake master cylinder. Unplug the electrical connectors and unbolt the module from its mount, then replace it with the new unit, reattach the connectors, and restore any removed components. Finally, reconnect the battery and bleed the brake system to remove any air bubbles.

Had same problem, you have to replace the ABS Module. You can take it to the mechanic for about $1,200+ or this web site http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-CHEVY-PU-SUV-ABS-EBCM-COMPUTER-ECU-MODULE-REBUILD-/390263833938?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5add898552

The ABS light is on because the ABS module detects a problem with the ABS system. Until the problem is fixed correctly the light will remain on. Once the problem is fixed the ABS module will clear the light itself. Your local auto parts store can scan for codes to determine what the problem is then you can make repairs accordingly.
