first of all keep in mind that you cant just do the bearing it's self. you have to get the whole hub assembly. but dont worry.... dont that big a deal! i just priced them out. i go to www.rockauto.com they range from $57 -$100. you fine with the standard grade one as long as you dont beat on the car.

so start by removing the tire. next you will need to remove the main nut that holds the hub assembly in. take a screw driver and insert it through the caliper into one of the slots in the rotor to prevent it the hub from spinning. once the main nut is removed you will need to remove the brake caliper. there are two hex bolts in the back of it. make sure to get a piece of string or wire to hold the caliper up so it isn't hanging from the rubber brake hose. next remove the rotor. now you will need to remove the hub assembly it's self. it's suggested that you use some sort of puller. there are 3 hub retaining bolts that need to be removed. then pull the hub assembly. now you have removed the hub.

some things to keep in mind for install. there is an o-ring on the back side of the hub assembly. make sure you use a new one if assembly didnt come with one already. make sure all surfaces are clean of rust and road grime. just wipe it with a rag. also make sure the bearing in the new hub assembly is greased really good. you must use a wheel bearing grease.

torque specs for the three bolts that mount the hub is 70 ft. lbs.

torque specs for axle nut. 192 ft. lbs.

the brake caliper doesn't really matter. just make sure it's really tight!

good luck with your project. i dont know your skill level so it may sound like alot but it's pretty straight forward. find a buddy that has alot of tools and you'll be all set.

How do I change the front wheel bearings in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix?

The front wheels bearings are sealed in an assembly. You cannot replace the bearings, just the entire assembly. I priced out the units about 5 years ago and I was quoted anywhere from $150 to $225 each. I asked the parts suppliers if replacing them is a DIY job and most advised against trying it myself.

Grand Ams eat wheel bearings, if one is bad you might as well replace both of them as the other will go out in a month or so, I had a 94 and replaced 6 wheel bearings in that car in 113,000 miles.
