You want to do this carefully. This part commonly fails on 97-98 cars. The coil packs ARE different and expensive. So make sure you have the proper year. This model uses a single pack that fires all six cylinders. Later years use two separate packs. Do the obvious first disconnect the battery. The coil pack is located at the rear driver side of the engine. It is secured by what are called external torx bolts. You need to pick up a set of these sockets or you run the risk of stripping the heads off. Removal is very straightforward. You dont have a lot of room to work in though. It is possible to remove as is but some people prefer to remove the cowl and upper intake manifold to have more room to work. You will need a 1/4" ratchet. 6" extension. Wobble head socket and an external torx E-8. Buy a set if you can as there are many more of these fasteners in different sizes on this car.
