To change the gasket on the oil pan of a 2003 Ford escape you will need to first drain the oil from the car and remove the oil filter. For easier access to the pan itself you might want to take off the cars catalytic converter monitor. The oil pan is held on with eighteen bolts that will need to be taken out. Once the pan is off the car take a plastic gasket scrapper and use a rag to clean the surface area where the oil pan was touching the car. This process will also need to be done to the oil pan itself. Once both surfaces are clean place the new gasket on the pan. Take some silicone gasket maker, approximately 10 milometer dot between each bolt hole. Place the pan back on the bottom of the car and replace the bolts. Replace the oil filter and fill with oil.
