To change the shift linkage in an 1998 automatic Chevy Cavalier the shift linkage needs to be removed from the transmission and pulled from the cabin. The job requires removing the floor console to access the cable. After doing the so the cable can be snaked from inside the cabin, the install is the reverse of the removal.
it is possible but you will need to change more that just the transmission. You will need to get the ecm out of the other car or any gm that has a manual transmission and a 2.8. and change that out. early 90's cavalier would be the easiest since they made so many of them. you will also of course need the shifter and shifter linkage for a manual
Speed Sensor is not working
Check to see if linkage is broken or disconnected
Remove the transmission pan.
I have a 1998 Jimmy SLT, automatic with floor shifter. It is easier than you might think. If you look closely on the back of the shifter knob there is a retaining pin, looks like a large brad type nail, just pry it out and lift up.
for an automatic, there is a black 'U'-shaped clip inside the front of the handle. pull it out with needle nose pliers and slide the shifter off.
An automatic bicycle shifter uses sensors to detect changes in speed and terrain, then adjusts the gears accordingly to maintain optimal performance. This allows the rider to seamlessly change gears without needing to manually adjust them.
Yes you can remove a manual transmission and replace it with an automatic. You will need to buy an aftermarket shifter kit of find a shifter for your vehicle from a junk yard. You will also either have to remove the clutch pedal or replace the pedal assembly
low tranny fluid. transmission may need rebuild.
i need to know how to change an automatic transmission mount on a 2000 chevrolet
If its a automatic,I had the same problem, take a small flat head screwdriver. And in the front of the shifter, facing towards the stereo is a little slit in the shifter and you will see a tiny U-shaped pin. put the screw driver between the pin an shifter an pop it out towards your deck and then pull the shifter up and off.
There is not one. The transmission pan must be removed to change transmission fluid and filter.
