To change the serpentine belt on a 2004 Trailblazer, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the tensioner pulley and use a wrench to rotate it counterclockwise, which will relieve tension on the belt. Remove the old belt from the pulleys, then route the new belt according to the belt diagram usually found on a sticker under the hood. Finally, reapply tension by releasing the tensioner and double-check that the belt is properly aligned on all pulleys.

The 4200 Vortec inline Six does not have a belt. It in fact has a timing chain to drive the dual overhead camshafts. I do not know the regular service interval for the chain however I do know several members of the forum are at 200,000 miles without problems. www.trailvoy.com All the answers for your Trailblazer from true enthusiasts!
