Ford has issued a safety recall that can be directly related to the ABS modules and brake fluid leaking into the wiring harness that controls it.

Removal
Prior to removal of module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a scan tool equivalent to Ford's NGS,WDS, or PDS. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.
Disconnect the battery ground cable. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the hydraulic control unit (HCU) dust shield,located directly uder the driver's door area fastened to the subframe.
Disconnect the anti-lock brake control module electrical connector. Slide the connector lock rearward.
Remove the three HCU bracket to frame bolts.
Lift the bracket hooks from the frame and lower the HCU to access the anti-lock brake module.
Be sure to lift straight up to avoid damage to the HCU components.
Remove the anti-lock brake module. Remove the bolts.
Installation
Once the new module is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the scan tool into the new module.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its strategy.
NOTE: Clean the top of the HCU before installing the new module.
NOTE: Clean the harness and module sides of the electrical connector before connecting.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
