Open your hood, look behind the headlight and remove the ruber holder. Turn the bulb to take it out, reverse process to install. after you pull the rubber holder off, unclip[pull] the three prong plug off, then you will see a clip holding the bulb in place,loosen the clip[it is hindged to the unit] and the bulb will come out.

To change the headlight bulb on a 1998 Toyota RAV4, first, locate the back of the headlight assembly under the hood. Twist the headlight bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it. Carefully pull out the old bulb and replace it with a new one, being sure not to touch the glass with your bare hands. Reinsert the socket back into the headlight assembly and twist it clockwise to secure it in place.
