Thouroghly clean ( sometimes brake cleaner is helpful) an wipe filer with a rag. Grip filter very tightly an twist counter-clockwise, 1/3 of a turn, pause and allow any dripping oil to fall into drain pan or other approved container. Continue turning an place your filter into pan to drain out. Prep area by cleaning filter seat ( bottom of the motor) with the same rag as used to wipe off the filter earlier. Fill filter 1/4-1/2 full (to make sure the engine has oil on the start, dry start=damage!) any slight spillage is okay use some of that to rub around the rubber O-ring atop the filter.
