I am about ready to this on my 2004 Escalade. I am purchasing Split backing plate so I shouldn't have to pull the rear axle. I will loosen the 4 bolts that hold the axle
and the backing plate in place. Once loose enough, I will cut out the old backing plate, shouldn't be too hard as they are already rotted substantially. I will be doing this in the next few days.
