The easiest way at least on my 1996 eddie bauer 4.0 is to jack the front end up brace the vehicle use floor jacks and take the passenger side tire off. Then pop off the inner wheel well skirting this gives you decent access to the plugs especially the one in the back toward the fire wall its almost impossible to get to from above
