If its like the 91 Mighty Max, on the drivers side you see the starter, disconnect the battery from the neg side. The bolts are thru the back, closest to the drivers seat and transmission. a 14mm long 10" will be needed to get to the top bolt. You first must disconnect the two heater hoses at the bottom. Real fun.. you can loosen this bolt using the 14mm.. it will take a while as you can only turn it less than a 1/4 turn each time..you can not get a socket, crows foot or ratchet wrench on it. I tried. to get to the bottom bolt you must disconnect and remove the linkage to the transmission shifter. then place a small jack under the transmission mount and remove all 12 14mm bolts. then lower the transmission about 3 or 4 inches, you do not need to remove the drive shaft. then you can get to the bottom bolt with a 14mm socket and long 10" ratchet. disconnect the two wires running to the starter and remove from the bottom. When you replace the starter you will need a very small hand to restart the bottom bolt. lightly tighten and jack the transmission back up all the way without replacing the bolts, small hands needed to hand start the top bolt from the top, and tighten a little more than the bottom one. lower the transmission and tighten the bottom bolt. raise the transmission back up, replace all 12 bolts ,replace all linkage and tighten the top bolt, again with 10' 14mm 1/4 turn at a time. replace both wires, reconnect the battery and you should be in business. This trial and error took me 10 hours. with these instructions your still looking at a 4-6 hour job.....will pay someone if I ever need to do it again....
