It's a piece of crap GM design, taking a mechanic 2.2 hours of labor to do. What kind of idiot designed this car? Hey, hope they go out of business for making such garbage. You have to take half of the engine apart to get to the stupid two bolts that hold the thermostat housing in. Screw GM
It's way up in behind the engine between the engine and the firewall. It's in such a bad location, from the 2006 model year on, it was relocated.
I just had one changed, the poor mechanic had to raise and lower the hoist about 6 times - a little work from above, a little work from below. The water pump needed to come off too, so a couple new gaskets there.
If you're wondering about the P0128 DTC, yes, changing the thermostat fixed it (in my case).
