How do you correct the timing on a 1996 Chevy Tahoe when the timing chain is correctly set?
well first make sure when you say that the timing chain has been set that you replaced it with a new one. which you probly already did. Then pull the spark plug out of number one piston very front on drivers side. get a friend to hit the ignition from inside while you hold your finger over the spark plug hole (NOT IN IT) over it. When you fell the compresion push your finger away bring the piston to the very top.replace spark plug. Then figure out were the plug wire from number one is going to on your distr. cap and point the button in that direction drop the dist. in and titen easy. now put the cap on BE CAREFUL IT IS EASY TO STRIP THE EARS THE CAP SCREWS TO ON THE DISTR BECAUSE THEY ARE WORN OUT AND ARE MADE OF POP METAL. but if that ever happens which it might you can get a new one complete on eBay for 80.00 or advance or autozone for a reman. for 150.00 i chose eBay.thanks
