When replacing the Fuel pump on my 1999 Lumina, i removed the cap from my tank, and that was all...a little bit of fuel from the lines came out..but it wasnt pouring... removing your gas cap is not the answer. The fuel LINE is pressurized and there's a release valve near the top of the engine. Find where the fuel line enters the intake and you'll see a valve that looks like an air valve in a tire...but's it's bigger. Press in on it and gas will come out, so don't do this when the engine is hot! Yes you can let the fuel out of the schrader valve to remove the pressure ,but the proper procedure is to remove the fuel pump relay or fuse , and crank the engine three or four revolutions to expel the fuel into the plemun.
