allen screw at the bottom of the mirror mount
To remove the mounting device button on a 1997 Oldsmobile rearview mirror without a set screw, gently pry off the plastic cover that may be concealing the mounting mechanism. Once the cover is removed, look for a small clip or a spring mechanism that holds the button in place. Carefully push or release this clip while simultaneously pulling the button away from the windshield. If needed, use a flat-head screwdriver for leverage, but be cautious not to damage the glass or surrounding areas.
Good luck trying to remove that mount button without breaking the glass. Better off purchasing another mounting button and glue it above or below the original one.
Unspring the button then glue it to windshield with 'Loctite' Auto Mirror Adhesive,

Remove the mirror and use a heat gun to remove the button. Caution: There is always the possibility that the windshield will crack.
I recently had to repair the rearview mirror on an '02 Nissan Xterra. It may be different, but perhaps it used the same technique. The mirror is connected to a metal "button" which is glued onto the windshield. In my case the glue had come undone and I had to remove the button from the mirror in order to re-affix it to the window. You can probably get the rearview off the button while still on the windshield in the same way. From the bottom of the housing there's a small notch where you can see the button and a small tab of spring steel. Use a hack saw blade or something else flat and long and slide it in between the tab and the button. Push it in around .75" until you bump up against another spring tab. Continue to push against it and it will release the lock. While pushing on it pull the mirror upwards off the button.
I am pretty sure that's the air conditioning button, it should be right up there on the heater/ac controls.

If it is the same as the green light on my Dodge Durango rearview mirror, it dims the amount of light being reflected off of the mirror from lights behind you. You can turn the dim feature off (indicated by the green light being off) with a button on the rearview mirror.
It is best done with the button removed from the mirror. Clean the glass and the button thoroughly with rubbing alcohol before applying the glue and be sure the button is right side up and exactly where you want it before you attach it to the glass. Allow the glue and button to dry several hours before reattaching the mirror.
Just pull straight up on it, there is no screw or bolt holding it on.
