I have a 2005 sunfire and i realize that the theft systems might be different on different year models of the car-
i had trouble with my theft system going off randomly- the car would crank but not start and the "theft system" light would flash. I called several dealerships and even tried calling a GM hotline and they all told me the same thing- the theft system cannot be disabled, like it or not it is part of the car and if it is defective it needs to be replaced.
there is, however, a relearn procedure you can use to get the car to start without towing it to a shop.
1) try to start the car (it won't start and the theft system light will flash)
2) leave the key in and resting in the "on" position (the position it's in after you crank and release- turns on the radio, dash lights etc.). the theft system light will continue to flash for about 10 min and then it will stop flashing and stay on.
3) turn the key to "off" and leave it there for another minute or two.
4) try starting it again. if it does not start now, it should after repeating the above two or three times
how to disable anithift system on 98 sunfire
how do i disable my anti theft on my 99 sunfire
To disable the theft system on a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, you can try resetting it by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and then reconnecting it. If that doesn't work, you may need to use the key in the ignition and turn it to the "On" position for about 10 minutes until the security light turns off. If issues persist, consider consulting the owner's manual or a professional mechanic for further assistance.
You'll have to get a tuner to disable it through the computer. If your talking with a remote start, you can bypass it with a "passlock" which can be found at car alarm shops
unhook
It doesn't have one unless you put one in yourself

I have a 1999 Sunfire and I have problems with the theft system too. Sometimes, I am able to pull the fuses and put them back and it'll start. Other times, I have to just sit and wait (for about 8 minutes) and then it'll start.
the new key has to be coded by the dealer costs 20$
To disable the theft system on a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, you can try using the key in the driver's door to unlock it, as this can sometimes reset the system. If that doesn't work, you can disconnect the battery for about 10-15 minutes and reconnect it to reset the system. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to consult a professional or refer to the vehicle's service manual for further troubleshooting.
