Take the #1 spark plug out. That would be the first plug in the drivers side head up front. Then put your finger over the hole and then turn are have some one to bumb the key alittle at a time until you fill it stop blowing out from under your finger. Then stop turning engine. You will only have to turn it a 1/2 a 1/4 more if even that much and the piston will be at TDC on the compression stroke.
Chrysler 383 is a big block. The Chevy 383, is a de stroked 400, small block.

Check the glove box. That's where I find everything. there is not a tdc you have to have a scan tool to put it in time that is what i had to do on my 97 gmc. the crab cap elmanites that... it is a pain in the butt if you ever have to change the dist.
It depends on the transmission and any modifications to the engine.

ZERO at TDC./ Top DEAD CENTER
8 degrees before TDC
8 degress before TDC
