You have to jack the car up or put on rack and feel on the top of the tranny for the plug with wires attached and that will be it.

The transmission oil drain plug on a BMW 3 series is an Allen plug, usually 17mm, on the bottom of the transmission.
on top of the transmission on the drivers side, it is the switch where the shift cable connects also has an electrical plug on it
