In additon, you can drill a small hole in the corner of the fob away from the buttons to ensure you do not damage any of the internal parts. After drilling the small hole insert a small key ring prior to attaching it to your other keys. I have a Ford and and VW and it has worked great for both brands.

Vw key fob light stays on?
I have a Toyota, and my key fob light stayed on also. I called the dealer, and they said the button on the fob was stuck down INSIDE the fob. So, I simply unscrewed the screw on the back of the fob, opened the fob, then put it back together. The fob was fixed. I didn't have to fix anything in the fob.

Well that question is too general. What year and what make is the vehicle? Is it a brand new key fob? If it is brand new it may need to be programed to the vehicle. The battery may be dead in the fob. The fob may also have a broken contact inside of it. I recommend taking your key fob and vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis.
